Zachary the Zebra finally has manes

What is a zebra without manes? Zachary didn’t have any for quite some time, but I finally went to the store to get some fuzzy yarn, so poor Zach would have manes just like any zebra. Before, he looked like this:

However, now he looks like this:

Isn’t he adorable?

A crochet christmas

Happy holidays everyone!

Christmas has already passed, and just like every year, I gave away some crocheted gifts.

These gifts were a success! I will be doing a separate blogpost for each of these presents, in the new year you can even expect a free pattern for those adorable chevron pouches.

I also love to make decorations. I didn’t have a lot of time this year, but I did make this adorable reindeer cozy.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a happy New Year.

Kevin the Koala

Hi!

Last month I got two new amigurumi books as presents, one of them is Kerry Lord’s Edward’s Menagerie.

I quickly decided I wanted to make the pattern for “Samuel the Koala” first, because he looked so adorable.

Time and exams got in the way and I ended up not writing a blogpost on him right after he was finished, so, here it is.

This is my Koala, Kevin. His ears are positioned a little higher on his head than they are with most koalas, but that’s okay.

I had fun making this koala, the patterns in Edward’s Menagerie are clear, easy to follow and easy to remember since the base of each pattern is the same. This allows you to make multiple animals in no time. I absolutely adore Kerry Lord’s patterns now, they are truly addictive and I know I’ll be making a lot more of them.

Friendly Monsters

Hello hello!
I present to you: my Friendly Monsters.

I’ve been working on these little monsters for a while. I found this really cute, bulky yarn in neon colors and immediately decided I wanted to make cute, colorful monsters. They were made with a 4mm hook, the biggest hook I have ever used for amigurumis, and didn’t make them too big. They were all made with the same basic pattern for the body and arms. This picture might give you a better idea of their size:
I absolutely love the texture of this bulky yarn, I think it definitely adds to the cuteness of these monsters. I also think that they would be excellent gifts for small children or babies (preferably made without plastic eyes, of course), they have an excellent shape to be made into rattles.

This one is the first monster I made and I adore this color-combination, it’s my favorite combination out of the four. He is the original pattern, basic body, arms, eyes and horns.

This one, I had the most fun with. When you make a group of different creatures, there always has to be a silly one. I love the striped pattern   with these two colors together.

I just had to make one with only one eye. I also gave him four horns instead of two, to switch it up. I do have to fix that nasty color-change on his arm there, oof.

This one was definitely the trickiest. I didn’t have a plan beforehand where I wanted the spots, I just went with it. I accidentally sewed on his arms a little higher up, I didn’t mean to, but now I don’t really mind it. I was not too happy with his mouth and horns either, but he is my little misfit and I love him just as much as the rest of them!

I designed these monsters myself, and I am so proud! They are some of my favorite creations. I am not putting up the pattern for now, I’m not sure whether I want to share it, it also needs a little work, still, but if you are interested in making a friendly monster, let me know and maybe I will consider it! 🙂

Oleg the Octopus

Number three of my Lalylala dolls!

This is Oleg the octopus:

He is actually the second Lalylala doll I made, but I decided to give him some embellishments and ended up finishing him after Lupo the Lamb. This is what he looked like before I decorated him:

I felt like he was too plain, so I embroidered on him.

This doll was the most work out of the three, because of all of his tentacles, but I loved making them.

He is the biggest doll I have ever made and I’m very glad with how he turned out.

His pattern can be found here. Lalylala’s patterns are very clear and user-friendly, but they are not free. There is a page on her website called ‘minis and mods’ where you can find some free patterns based off Lalylala dolls.

Goodbye!

Adorable owls

Hello!

Doesn’t everyone just like an amigurumi owl? They are so cute! There are so many owl amigurumi patterns on the Internet, but this pattern is my latest obsession. Look at these cuties!

This pattern is so easy, and the result is adorable. It is also a very quick project, you finish these owls in no time. Need a last-minute present? This is perfect!

Now, these owls are bigger than they seem in these pictures. I forgot to take a picture in which you can see exactly how big they are, but if you go and take a look at the pattern, you can find other pictures.

This pattern was created by Tanya from Little Things Blogged. I’m in love with it, if you want to make your own, click here to get to the pattern.
Bye!

(Not yet finished) Zebra!

Hello!

I made this zebra a month ago, but the reason why I did not post about him yet, is because he isn’t finished. What zebra does not have any hair? Right? I needed to go and get some fuzzy yarn to crochet his manes.

Now, it’s a month later and he still is not finished. So, yeah..

Anyway, I am very happy with this zebra in the end. I got this pattern from a little book I bought. It was very unclear and not user-friendly. There were barely any pictures. There was no structure. It went like this:

‘Row 1: …… Row 2:………….Row 3:………………….. Row 4:…………….Row 5: …………….’

Instead of:

‘Row 1

Row 2

Row 3’
You can imagine it was very confusing.

Now, I’m complaining a lot about the pattern, but that does not mean it’s horrible. The pattern is great, the lay-out just is not. You might curse a few times, realize you missed a row somewhere and that you have to do it again, but after all, this zebra is really cute and an excellent toy to give away!

You can find the pattern online (English version). I don’t know if that version is as unclear as the one I have, so you might be in luck. It was created by the talented Christel Krukkert. You can find all of her patterns in Dutch, English and German.

Lupo the Lamb

Hello there!

Today I’m showing you some quick pictures of Lupo, not the second, but the third Lalylala doll I made. Picture quality is not great, these were taken with my iPad since my camera appears to be broken 😦

The third, and so far, my favorite.

As I said in my post about Bina the Bear, Lalylala’s patterns are very clear and user-friendly. Also, they have a cute lay-out and are available in multiple languages!

One of the things that surprised me when I made Bina was the fact that even though it was the biggest doll I’d ever made, it didn’t take that much longer than a regular amigurumi. Maybe it’s just because I’m so excited about these dolls, but I felt like they were all done quite fast.

With Lupo it took a little longer, of course. Those bobble stitches are a lot of work!

If you want to make your own Lupo. Check out Lalylala’s website, there are so many dolls to choose from. The patterns are not free.

If you’d rather not spend money on a pattern, there is also a page on the website called ‘minis & mods‘ where you can find free patterns based of Lalylala patterns, but by other people!

See you soon, crochet on!

(He’s so cute!)

Bina the Bear

Hi there!

In July, I got a wonderful present from one of my friends, who is a fellow crocheter. She bought me a bunch of patterns as a late birthday present. And seven of these patterns are Lalylala patterns!

The first time I discovered Lalylala and her dolls, I immediately fell in love, I’d been wanting to try them ever since. If you don’t know what Lalylala dolls are, take a look at this website.

I immediately got started on the first one: Bina the Bear.

These dolls are the biggest crochet dolls I have ever made, so I was amazed when I finished the first one so quickly!

I absolutely love my Bina. I made her with thicker yarn and used bigger eyes because I thought my bear would be a little bigger than the original. Since the yarn stretched a lot, that turned out to be false, but I sort of like the bigger eyes!

The pattern is very good. It has clear instructions and a very cute lay-out. It has pictures and drawings as well, which is always a good thing! 😉

As for the scarf, I did not follow the pattern. I learned how to knit when I was younger, and I knitted one baby blanket, but after that I stopped and I forgot how to do it. I decided to crochet a scarf, but I wanted it to be a little special because just making a long strip is boring and I don’t like the way that looks at all. I did some improvising and I’m quite happy with it.

I had a lot of fun making this one. I already made two other Lalylala dolls as well, and I hope to show you them soon!

If you would like to make a doll like this and you can’t or don’t want to buy a pattern, there is a new page on the website called ‘minis & mods’ where you can find free patterns, made by other people, based off Lalylala patterns. There are some really cute ones out there!

Sandy the Seal

Hello everyone! Meet little Sandy

I finished this little one three weeks ago, but did not get around to posting anything about him yet!

This pattern, originally called ‘Sammy the Seal’, is just so irresistible. I saw it and immediately gathered my yarn and hook to make one. I personally think it’s one of the most adorable amigurumis I have ever made. I had a little trouble with sewing on the tail (as you maybe can see), I was little tired and in a hurry. I did manage to make it look a little better after I took these pictures, but it isn’t perfect. That doesn’t make me love it any less, though!

I had some fun taking these pictures, as you can see 😉

The pattern for this amazingly adorable seal can be found on Little Muggles: right here, next to a ton of other lovely patterns! I hope you have as much fun making these as me.

Have a lovely day!
